Note that PwanageTool only works with Mac. If you don’t have a Mac, you should borrow from your friends.
What is untethered jailbreak
Untethered jailbreak is the ultimate achievement of jailbreaking your idevice. You can reboot your device and use full functions without having to connect your device to PC or Mac.
Supported devices are:
- iPhone 4 (GSM – CDMA)
- iPhone 3GS
- iPod touch 4G
- iPod touch 3G
- iPad 1
Download Required:
Now you can follow the following steps to untethered jailbreak iOS 5.0.1:
Step 1: Connect your iOS device to Mac via USB.
Step 2: Run PwnageTool 5.0.1 (Downloaded above)
Step 3: Select your device and click “Next”.
Step 4: Browse and select iOS 5.0.1 firmware IPSW (Downloaded above).
PwnageTool will display a message which will lead you to update your baseband. Here is the message: “Do you have an iPhone contract that would activate normally through iTunes?”.
If you click “Yes”, your current baseband will be updated so you won’t be able to unlock your phone.
Step 5: Click “No” to keep your old baseband so you can unlock it late with Ultrasn0w from Cydia.
Wait for the tool to jailbreak and create custom iOS 5.0.1 for your current device. Once it is done, you will receive a message. Then you can load the custom IPSW on your device.

Use Ultrasn0w to Unlock iPhone 4 and 3GS
Unlocking your phone will allow you to use other carrier SIM. If you purchase it with AT&T with contract but want to use with T-Mobile, you can unlock your iPhone so you can use it with your desire carrier.
The supported baseband are:

- 04.26.08
- 05.11.07
- 05.13.01
- 05.12.01
- 06.15.00
Now you already have your iPhone jailbroken that Cydia is available to use so you can follow the below steps.
Step 1: Launch “Cydia” > tab on “Manage” > tab on “Source” > tab on “Edit” on the top right corner then tab on “Add” on the top left corner.
Step 2: Add repository source for Ultrasn0w. The source is “http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com” then you can select on “Add Source”.
Step 3: Now Cydia will start adding source. After the source was successfully added, you select on “Search” on the bottom corner right then enter the keyword Ultrasn0w.
Step 4: Click on the “Ultrasn0w” in the search result and tab on “Install” on the top corner right. Cydia will start installing the “Ultrasn0w”.
Congratulation now your iPhone is successfully unlocked. Enjoy with SIM-free iPhone.
