Note: You must have your SHSH blobs saved either locally, or on Cydia for the firmware you wish to downgrade to. If you do not have the blobs saved on Cydia or your local machine, you will not be able to downgrade. This is for pre-A5 devices only, so device like the iPad 2, iPhone 4S, and newer cannot be downgraded using this method.

Step 1: Download RedSn0w 0.9.15b2 or newer from our downloads page and open it.

Step 2: Connect your iOS device, and place it into DFU mode.

To set to DFU mode, you need to follow:

• Press and Hold Power and Home Button for 10 seconds. Now you can release the Power button while keep holding Home button for another 10 second.
• Now you are in DFU mode as screen goes black.

Step 3: Ensure that RedSn0w detects your device in DFU mode at the bottom of the main RedSn0w page. Click Extras > Even more > Restore > IPSW, and select the IPSW firmware file that you want to restore to. If you don’t have the right firmware file on your machine, you can download firmware files from our downloads page. RedSn0w should process the IPSW file.

Step 4: After the IPSW is processed and identified, you will be prompted to preserve your baseband. If you’re on an unlockable baseband, and you rely on UltraSn0w or a SIM interposer for an unlock, you may want to preserve your baseband.

Step 5: Next, it’s time to select the location of your SHSH blobs. If your SHSH blobs aren’t local, you haven’t fetched your blobs, or performed this restore before, you will most likely need to click the Remote option. This will fetch the necessary blobs from Cydia.

Step 6: Once your select your blobs, the restore process should begin, and you will be restored to the firmware you selected. If, however, you receive an error saying Couldn’t restore Mismatched APTicket, then your device will be kicked out of DFU mode, and the restore will halt. Don’t worry. Place your device back into DFU mode, and repeat step 3 again, and the restore should take off from there.

That’s it; that’s all there is to it. This new restore method is leaps and bounds easier than previous downgrade methods. What’s even better is that this downgrade method doesn’t even require you to use iTunes!

With the release of RedSn0w 0.9.15b1, we have managed to jailbreak the iPhone 3GS on iOS 6 already but of course with some features are still unstable. Now the iPhone Dev Team has released RedSn0w 0.9.15b2 aiming to help the old device (iPhone 3GS) enjoy the latest iOS.

Note that only iPhone 3GS with old bootroms can enjoy this perfect untethered jailbreak. If you use this tool to jailbreak but receive notification that it is tethered jailbreak, then you need to reboot your device with PC.

Update #1 (Oct 15): Version 0.9.15b2 fixes a few issues for 3GS owners: old-bootrom awesomeness is no longer forgotten directly after a restore, and iPad baseband upgrade/downgrade support is fixed (same production date cutoffs apply!). If your 3GS is currently tethered at 6.0 even though you have an old bootrom, just re-run redsn0w’s Jailbreak step (no need to restore). Don’t forget you can add some pizzaz with your own boot logo or a nerdy verbose boot.

We are now able to jailbreak A4 devices running on iOS 6. It is done using RedSn0w 0.9.15b1. If you are so eager to use the iOS 6 with jailbreak stuffs then you can follow the instruction below.

For iPhone 3G/3GS, if you accidentally upgrade your device and let your baseband reaches 06.15.00, you will be locked there forever. But now thanks to our famous hacker, MuscleNerd had tweeted that “Made great progress yesterday on downgrade from BB 06.15 (for 3G/3GS owners who got officially unlocked). All the pieces are there ”

What to do before jailbreak

Make sure that you backup your device since you might lose photos from your camera roll.

Step 1: Extract or drag Absinthe to desktop.

• For Windows user: After downloading Absinthe, you will get it in Zip so extract it. Now you will get absinthe-win-2.0.exe then double click on the application so you can get another folder with this name “absinthe-win-2.0”. Go to the folder to start “absinthe.exe”.
• For Mac: Double click on the dmg file then drag it to the desktop then start absinthe.

Step 2: Now absinthe started. It will ask you to plug in your device to begin. Do not hesitate to connect your device via USB cable. The application will detect your device and display information of your device.

Step 3: Click on “Jailbreak” button. Now sit back and relax. Let the application do its job.

Step 4: It will tell you the jailbreak is done once it is completed.
